How can Cognitive Hypnotherapy help with ADHD?
Increasingly, people of all ages are being diagnosed with ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). While some experts initially believed that ADHD was caused by low dopamine levels in the brain, more recent research suggests that the relationship is more complicated.
Symptoms of ADHD vary for each individual but commonly present as
- Inability to Focus
- Difficulty concentrating on one task or to work through tasks sequentially
- Difficulty in emotional self-regulation
- Extreme and uncomfortable feelings of ‘boredom’
- Impulsiveness
- Looking for the ‘hit’ by using caffeine or sugar or other stimulants
- Excitement and high levels of focus for new projects but inability to complete projects or tasks.
- Sense of feeling different to rest of world.
Taking specific ADHD medications can be life changing for many people, but some sufferers prefer to try and manage their ADHD more naturally. I am experienced in working with leading ADHD professors and psychiatrists to help support clients from a multi disciplinary approach.
